I think the role of basically bribing public servants (Senators in this case) is apparent. I do not think for a minute Republicans are less bribed — or independents either. This graphic just became available: It becomes obvious why greedy people become politicians and indeed why some are fabulously wealthy on “barely livable” salaries.
Sort of all reminds me of Eddie Murphy’s movie, “The Distinguished Gentleman”.

I guess I think there is evidence that people (companies?) with agendas are distorting science for their own profit.
